About the title

A bone folder is a tool traditionally used by bookbinders, perhaps the simplest and most useful. Usually made of bone, its smooth length fits easily in the hand. It is used for folding paper, for rubbing down glued endpapers, for scoring and other tasks. I own two, bought from a bookbinder supply house in London in 1979 and which I still use.
